I have studied Latin drums at Codarts, university of the arts, in Rotterdam, so I've acquired a lot of knowledge and skills on Cuban and Brazilian music, jazz, funk and Pop. En Fundamentos de la bateria, veremos los aspectos mas básicos e importantes para iniciar en este hermoso instrumento, tales como el agarre de las baquetas, la correcta postura, pequeña reseña histórica, ritmos sencillos, lectura de partitura, manejo del metrónomo, diferentes estilos y géneros musicales, y planeación de hábitos de estudio según el tiempo de cada estudiante y sus aspiraciones con el instrumento.

In order to achieve this I like to make sure the lessons have a good balance between fun personal musical challenges and the various techniques (and bits of theory if needed) that will help you enjoy the most your time behind the drums (or siting on yout cajón!)

Como profesor me dedico a encontrar y desarrollar el método que más se adapte a cada alumno, sus tiempos, su vida y sus intereses para lograr sus objetivos de la manera más eficiente posible. En mis 10 años de experiencia enseñando batería y mis 20 años estudiando, he pasado por gran variedad de métodos y sistemas de enseñanza, llegando a la conclusión de que cada persona tiene distintas formas de aprender. Con los años he desarrollado la capacidad de descubrir la manera en que cada persona se acerca al instrumento y al aprendizaje, para así crear el método que se adapte a sus intereses, necesidades y objetivos.

Adapto los métodos de enseñanza a los intereses de los alumnos/as. En una primera reunión concertamos los objetivos de forma conjunta, a partir de los conocimientos previos (sean muchos, pocos o nulos). Vamos viendo la teoría aplicada en las canciones que quieran aprender a tocar los alumnos/as. La idea es que disfruten tocando las canciones preferidas mientras vamos avanzando en material teórico.

I'm a long experienced drummer and percussionist, specialised in improvised music, jazz and creative music in general, even though my professional activitity spans from contemporary to pop music. I have accomplished my Bachelor and Masters study in Italy, and since september 2023 I moved to Basel to do a Specialised Master in composition, performance and improvisation. With many years of experience in private teaching and two years as associate professor at the Conservatory of Milan, I love to deal with committed, passionate and curious musicians at any point of their musical carreer, weather they might want to study just for fun, passion, or as a way to enter the profesisonal world of music. I'm available to teach to drummers and percussionist, as well as other instrumentists that may want to deepen their understanding and practicing on rhythm. My artistic research is about time and space, that find their realisation in colors and rhythms. As I graduated also in Foreign Lenguages and Literatures, I like to have also a linguistic approach to music and to musical genres. Some of my main practice interests: - rhythm and dance - rhythm and body - rhythmic approaches in XX century music (mainly minimalism, serialism, spectralism, new music) - historical approach to rhythm and music - rhythmic folk traditions from different countries (india, africa, south america, eastern europe) - polyrhythms - odd meters - microrhythms I see music, drums, percussions and teaching as one of the most beautiful ways to deepen our humanness and understaning of ourselves and the others.
